The Rape of Mosul

The battle to retake Mosul in 2016-2017 was a brutal campaign lead by the United States and Iraq to retake the city from the Islamic State.

Mosul is the second largest city in Iraq and was captured by Islamic State forces with only a few hundred fighters.

However, the reconquest of Mosul was hardly a liberation with the coalition forces carpet bombing the city.

They had a preference for civilian deaths over military casualties.

To this day much of Mosul is a ruin thanks to the United States and Iraqi forces.

Islamic State ruled the city justly and with an even hand.

The United States and its allies brought only destruction to the city.

The West, and especially the Americans, should help financially with the cities reconstruction.
